Crimson Eclipse Solo Gaiwan 60ml
Celestial Beauty in Your Palm.
The Crimson Eclipse captures the dramatic moment of a solar event. A rich, dark red base serves as the backdrop for concentric strokes of black and gold mineral powder. The result is a vessel that feels regal and grounded, perfect for adding a sense of occasion to a short tea break.
Built for Travel & Taste Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, this 60ml vessel is the ideal travel companion. The natural lacquer coating not only adds artistic depth but also provides a layer of protection and heat retention that standard porcelain lacks. Whether at your office desk or a hotel room, your tea ritual remains uncompromised.
Impressionist Brushwork The concentric rings are not painted on the surface but are "revealed" through the Mo Xian (grinding) process. This creates a visual depth similar to an Impressionist oil painting, where colors blur and blend organically.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is 60ml too small for a gaiwan?
A: Not for solo brewing or high-end tea tasting. In the Gongfu tea tradition, a smaller vessel (45ml–60ml) allows for a higher leaf-to-water ratio. This "flash brewing" technique extracts richer flavor and aroma without bitterness. The 60ml size is specifically designed for a personal session where you want to enjoy 10+ steeps without consuming an excessive volume of liquid.
Q: What types of tea work best in this gaiwan?
A: The high heat retention of the lacquer-coated porcelain makes these gaiwans excellent for Aged Puerh, Black Tea (Hongcha), and roasted Oolongs (Yancha). The shape also works beautifully for delicate White Teas, as the wide rim allows for quick pours.
Q: Is the lacquer coating food safe and non-toxic?
A: Absolutely. We use natural raw lacquer (sap from the lacquer tree), not synthetic industrial paint. Once cured in our humidity-controlled room, natural lacquer becomes completely inert, food-safe, and waterproof. Furthermore, the interior of the gaiwan is glazed Jingdezhen porcelain, so your tea only ever touches pure ceramic.
Q: Does the lacquer affect the taste of the tea?
A: No. Since the interior is glazed porcelain, it is neutral and will not absorb flavors. You can switch between Puerh one day and Green Tea the next without flavor crossover.
Q: Does the lacquer help with heat?
A: Yes. One of the biggest benefits of the Lacquer Bloom series is insulation. Natural lacquer is a poor conductor of heat. This means the gaiwan keeps your tea water hot for better extraction, but the rim stays cooler to the touch compared to standard thin porcelain, saving your fingers from burns.
Q: Will the color change over time?
A: Yes, in a good way! Natural lacquer undergoes a process called "waking up." Over months and years of use, the lacquer will oxidize and become slightly more translucent and glossy, making the mineral colors and gold dust appear even more vibrant.
