The Lacquer Bloom Series

A Fusion of Earth, Time, and Art

Created by the Xiaoqian, the Lacquer Bloom Series bridges the gap between functional teaware and exquisite home decor. Whether you are pouring from our gaiwan or fairness cups, sipping from a master cup, or displaying our sculptural objects, every piece in this collection is a "living" art object designed to elevate your daily rituals.

One Object, One Nature

Embodying the philosophy of Unity of Object and Self, the lacquer surface is uniquely reactive. It is not cold like glass; it feels warm and "alive." With daily use, the natural lacquer will continue to oxidize, becoming brighter and more translucent over the years - beautifully recording the memories of your space and your tea journey.

Why Choose a Gaiwan made of natural lacquer?

The Craftsmanship: Ancient Zhangxiu (彰髹)

Unlike mass-produced ceramics, this collection utilizes the ancient, labor-intensive Zhangxiu technique - a masterful process of burying rich color in natural sap and revealing it through meticulous polishing.

  • The Porcelain Body: We begin with hand-thrown forms using vintage Jingdezhen clay. Each shape - from our delicate teaware to elegant living accessories - is deliberately thin, elegant, and styled for precise handling.
  • The Lacquer: We use only natural sap from the lacquer tree. Mineral powders for color and precious gold or silver dust are mixed into the raw lacquer. These are painted in abstract, concentric brush strokes - the signature "Bloom" pattern that mimics Impressionist art.
  • The Waiting: This is art that cannot be rushed. Each of the dozens of layers must cure for 24 hours in a specialized humidity-controlled shade room to oxidize perfectly before the next layer is applied.
  • The Reveal: Once the layers are set, the artisan grinds the surface down. This reveals the "buried" textures hidden underneath, creating the stunning rings of color. A final hand-polishing results in a matte, warm finish that feels like jade in your hand.
