Palm Treasure Tea Canister · Midsummer Night

The Palm Treasure Tea Canister is a palm-sized vessel for resting and awakening tea, crafted from earthen clay and finished on the outside in the Midsummer Night glaze. Its interior is left unglazed, allowing the clay to breathe — so puerh or black tea settles, softens, and opens before the first infusion. Small enough to hold in one hand, it holds roughly 50–100g of loose leaf, or the leaves pried from a pressed cake in the days before brewing.

The Glaze: Midsummer Night, Deepened by Clay

The Midsummer Night glaze is a night sky caught in miniature — a deep, dusky ground scattered with warm points of light, like fireflies over a summer field at dusk. Dreamlike and quietly luminous, it seems to hold its own small hour of the evening. Applied over an earthen clay body rather than porcelain, the glaze settles darker and more grounded here, the clay drawing its nighttime glow into a richer, more contemplative register. As light moves across the surface through the day, each handmade canister reveals its own variation, so no two are exactly alike.

A Canister That Wakes the Tea

In gongfu tea practice, aged and pressed teas are often awakened (醒茶) before brewing — rested in open air so their stored depth unfolds into aroma and clarity. The Palm Treasure makes this effortless: tea pried from a puerh cake or opened from an aged black tea rests inside its unglazed clay walls, which breathe gently and wake the leaves quickly. For small amounts of tea you are mellowing over weeks, the canister keeps them just as safe.

Beyond the tea table, it travels beautifully. Fill it with one or two sessions' worth of leaves, slip it into a tea pouch, and your morning session follows you — to the office, the park, a friend's table. And at a tea gathering, drawing the leaves from a lidded jar and offering them around carries a quiet ceremony all its own.

Handcrafted Earthen Clay

Each canister is hand-thrown and hand-glazed, its weight and balance tuned to sit comfortably in one hand — roughly 8cm tall and solid enough to feel like a keepsake rather than a container. The unglazed interior is the point, not a flaw: raw clay is what lets the leaves breathe, the same principle behind unglazed Yixing teaware, and it will carry the faint memory of every tea it has rested.

Why You'll Love It

  • Unglazed clay interior: Lets puerh and black tea breathe, rest, and awaken before brewing — waking the leaves quickly and safely.
  • Midsummer Night glaze on clay: A dusky, firefly-lit night sky, settled darker and richer on the earthen body.
  • Palm-sized and travel-ready: Holds 1–2 sessions of leaves; slips into a tea pouch for tea anywhere.
  • Ceremony in the hand: Opening a lidded jar at a tea gathering carries its own quiet ritual.
  • Handmade character: Each piece is hand-thrown and hand-glazed; natural variation makes no two alike.

Perfect For

Puerh and black tea drinkers who rest their leaves before brewing, travelers who never go without a session, and anyone who believes a small object can hold a small ceremony. It also makes a thoughtful gift for the tea friend who already has every teapot — few people own a canister made only for waking tea.

Care Instructions

  • Keep the interior dry; wipe clean with a dry cloth rather than washing.
  • The glazed exterior may be rinsed with water and wiped dry.
  • Air out fully before refilling, and dedicate each canister to one tea type to preserve its character.
