Sustainability & Material Standards: The Integrity Behind Every Glazara Creation

Discover how Glazara creates sustainable, food-safe ceramic teaware using lead-free glazes, high-temperature firing, and small-batch craftsmanship from Jingdezhen. Explore our commitment to safe materials, certified quality, and conscious artistry designed to last a lifetime.

Craft with Conscience

At Glazara, beauty begins with intention. Every piece — from the Energy Gaiwan to the Elemental Cup — is crafted with care, responsibility, and respect for heritage. We believe that true luxury is built on materials you can trust and craftsmanship that stands the test of time.

Sustainability, for us, is not a trend — it is a commitment to preserving the planet, the craft of Jingdezhen, and the integrity behind each handmade porcelain creation.

Safe Materials, Certified Quality

Customers often ask: “Is porcelain glaze safe?”
With Glazara, the answer is a confident yes.

Every piece is made from high-grade porcelain clay and lead-free, cadmium-free glazes. Our porcelain is independently tested by an internationally accredited third-party laboratory — the China National Quality Inspection and Testing Center for Ceramic Products (Jiangxi), accredited under CNAS (L0142) with ilac-MRA mutual recognition, meaning its results are recognized by accreditation bodies worldwide.

Our testing follows ISO 6486-1:2019 — the international standard for ceramic ware in contact with food — measuring lead and cadmium release under standardized migration conditions. The results: lead and cadmium not detected, below the laboratory's detection limits and well within the strictest international food-contact thresholds.

Whether you're brewing hot tea, whisking matcha, or enjoying daily coffee, your porcelain is non-toxic, stable, and safe for everyday use. Our testing program is ongoing, with representative pieces from our collections submitted for migration testing as new glazes are introduced.

Explore our handcrafted porcelain collections, including the Elemental Gaiwan Collection, Elemental Teacup Collection, and the Matcha Latte Cup Collection, all crafted to the same food-safe porcelain standards.

The Nature of Our Glaze

Glazara’s glazes are inspired by ancient alchemy and the natural forces of earth, fire, water, and air. Instead of synthetic coatings, each piece undergoes high-temperature firing above 1,300°C, a process that:

  • Creates naturally glossy, glass-like surfaces

  • Strengthens durability and scratch-resistance

  • Produces stable, non-reactive glaze layers

  • Reduces environmental impact by avoiding chemical additives

The glow of a Glazara cup isn’t painted — it’s born from minerals, heat, and time.

Sustainable Craftsmanship in Practice

Our commitment to sustainability extends to every part of creation.

Small-batch production

We partner with studios in Jingdezhen who fire in limited, intentional batches, reducing waste and optimizing kiln energy use.

Mindful firing cycles

Each kiln load is planned with precision to minimize emissions and ensure that every piece fired has purpose.

Eco-conscious packaging

Our packaging is recyclable, minimalist, and protective — honoring both the craft and the environment while reducing unnecessary materials.

The Beauty of Enduring Art

We believe that sustainability also means creating objects that last.
Every Glazara piece is made to be: Strong, Timeless, Loved for decades

We encourage conscious ownership: choosing fewer, finer objects that enrich your space and your daily rituals. Enduring design is the most sustainable form of beauty.

Radical Transparency

From clay sourcing to glaze formulation, we are committed to transparency. As part of this commitment, our third-party test report — lead and cadmium release under ISO 6486-1:2019, issued by a CNAS/ilac-MRA internationally accredited laboratory — is available on request. Just ask, and we'll share it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. High-quality porcelain glazes that are lead-free and cadmium-free are considered safe for tea, matcha, coffee, and other beverages.

Does high-fired porcelain contain toxins?

No. Properly fired porcelain becomes chemically stable and non-reactive, making it suitable for everyday food and beverage use.

Can I see your food-safety test report?

Yes — simply ask, and we'll gladly share it. Our porcelain is tested by an internationally accredited laboratory (CNAS/ilac-MRA) for lead and cadmium release under ISO 6486-1:2019, the international standard for ceramics in contact with food. Both results: not detected.

Why is Jingdezhen porcelain valued worldwide?
