Originating in the Tang Dynasty (618–907 CE), the Gaiwan has been an essential vessel for Gongfu tea preparation for over a thousand years. In ancient times, high-temperature ceramic glazes were primarily monochromatic, with rare colors reserved for grand decorative pieces. During the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368–1912 CE), this craftsmanship traveled the world via the Maritime Silk Road, spreading the legacy of Chinese porcelain.
